Write a list of things your dream home must have and those things you’d love it to have, then visit this house: I guarantee you’ll tick off everything on both lists! This is a fabulous home. Situated in Kilcurry (which is on the Dundalk – Armagh Road north west of Dundalk), across the roads from Kilcurry Church, and close to the Community Centre creche and national school.
Incase you don’t know this area, here’s a snapshot: quiet, close to Dundalk, lovely rural setting but with a good small community on your doorstep. This house is one of five, and all are very smart detached homes. The property – set on a 0.75 acre site – has a lot to say for itself. A detached red brick, double-fronted house which measures c2,300 sq ft (c213 sq m), with detached double garage that is simply immaculate.
Approached through electric gates to an entirely cobble-locked driveway, and surrounded by extensively landscaped gardens, every detail is attended to inside and out, to a very high standard. The entrance hallway has a beautiful tiled floor with motif centre-piece. The hallway with solid mahogany stairs and landing are designed in a full height gallery style, and finished well with a modern chrome chandelier.
To left of the hall is the Study, which has among the finest fireplaces we have seen – a white marble mantle with intricate carvings, courtesy of Belle Cheminee. This room has a D-Bay window and semi solid wood floor – very warm but versatile and practical. If a study is not on your list, this would make a great formal lounge, dining room, teenager’s den or playroom. At the opposite side of the hall is the family room with the second most impressive fireplace we’ve seen! This time a black marble piece from the same Belle Cheminee which is set perfectly into a feature burgundy colour scheme. Also with D Bay and oak floor, this room has double doors onto the large kitchen-diner, which runs to almost the entire width of the house.
The Kitchen has solid light oak cabinets and has extra thick black granite work surfaces. Immense detail has gone into this space, from the beautiful radiator cabinets, to the design of storage and surrounding cabinetry. There is an island which gives excellent extra workspace, as well as lots of space for a large family dining suite. The floor is finished a flexi-link vinyl that is designed to be hard wearing but is beautifully finished with bespoke border. The utility and fully tiled guest shower room are finished to the same high standard. Going upstairs, there are four double bedrooms, set around an impressive landing.
Three of the four bedrooms have fully tiled ensuites, and all have fitted wardrobes (the master has a very impressive walk-in wardrobe. The main bathroom – also fully tiled – is very spacious. So, to the outdoors, which is equally as impressive. There’s a double garage with 2 electric roller doors, as well as a new condenser boiler (2017). The back, south facing garden has been extensively designed and landscaped, and the result is superb. This garden achieves what we usually just imagine: low maintenance meets high impact! And then, the centre piece – an indoor den cum steakhouse! Smartly finished with brick and roofed, you’ll find a free-standing stove and a double solid fuel BBQ within a block structure.
It’s just the perfect solution to Irish BBQ’s! Joanne commented: “This house has complete ‘walk-in’ credentials. It has left nothing behind in creating a really impressive home. There are so many things to say about this property, only a viewing will do it justice.” Services: Private well & septic tank.
